Houston When To Go

The months during peak cruise and sports season are the busy times of year in Houston. Though last-minute deals crop up occasionally, try to book cruises three months in advance, especially for popular destinations like the Caribbean. Temperatures average 80°F.

The humidity in Houston is legendary year-round. Temperatures in the 90s and 100s are the summer norm and sometimes spell discounted hotel rates. Excepting the beach, there are fewer crowds. Lodging prices fall again in winter.

Warm weather makes experiencing Houston great nearly year-round, but there are deals to be had in late spring/early summer and over the holidays. Early September is our favorite time to visit, when the summer mugginess has worn down (temps linger in the 80s), crowds remain refreshingly sparse, and hotel deals abound. Activities are also abuzz, with plenty of baseball games, farmer’s markets, and gallery and museum exhibits scheduled.
