Ibiza Cities and Regions

Founded by the Carthaginians over 2,000 years ago, the island’s walkable, hilltop capital is a mix of traditional, whitewashed buildings and shady medieval squares interspersed with cutting-edge lounge bars, cool shops, and late-night restaurants.

In easy reach of Ibiza Town, this region features some of the island’s most beautiful coves of aquamarine waters, all fronted by fine, sandy beaches.

In summer, the largest town on this coast, Sant Antoni de Portmany (or San Antonio), is inundated with partying Brits, so unless you’re into binge drinking and all-night raves, avoid this area. Nonetheless, there are some nice, isolated beaches nearby. 

Two of the island’s major package tour resorts, Portinatx and Cala de Sant Vicent, are located here. Along with the many coves and beaches, the region has several traditional towns worth visiting.

East of the capital, you’ll find The Balearic Islands’ only black sand beach, the intriguing town of Santa Eularia d’es Riu, and any number of coastal kick-back spots.

Rocky, sparse, and ruggedly beautiful, this small, mellow island, which is just a short ferry ride away, is the perfect anecdote to Ibiza’s sometimes stressful summertime madness.
