Istanbul When To Go

Peak Season: June to September
Istanbul residents head for summer homes on the coast leaving space in the 70-degree city for its millions of visitors. Attractions are heavy with foreign tourists; hotel space is available at a premium.
Off Season: November to March
Although Istanbul rarely gets much snow, it’s frequently cold (temperatures in the high 40s) and wet. Hotel rates plummet and it’s easier to snag tables at the best restaurants.
Sweet Spot: April to May; October
In spite of occasional rain, these can be the best months to visit Istanbul – excluding Easter, attractions see fewer visitors and in mid-April a Tulip Festival brings vivid color to city streets. Temperatures average 60°F.
