Amman is ideal during spring and fall when temperatures average in the 60s. Petra and Wadi Rum are best explored during mid-spring, however evenings at that time can still get very cold.
Off-Season: June to August
Avoid any outdoor sightseeing during the summer months, particularly in Petra and Wadi Rum, as temperatures can be sweltering. Even though it’s located on a hilltop, summers in Amman can also be scorching and unpleasant.
Sweet Spot: January to March
Even though the winter months bring cold weather to Jordan, outdoor sightseeing is still more comfortable during these times than the scorching summer months. The Red Sea and Aqaba, in particular, are worth visiting during this period.
