Kyoto: Hotels

Accommodation in Kyoto falls roughly into two categories. The first are western hotels, complete with all the usual amenities. The second are ryokan, traditional Japanese inns decorated with tatami matt flooring, paper screen doors and futon beds (prices are generally higher but the experience is priceless). Rates range from over $300 to less than $60 per night.
