Lake Las Vegas has had a tough time of it recently, with both the Ritz-Carlton and Casino MonteLago closing their doors due to the recession, before Ravella resort opened in the Ritz’s old digs. Through it all, the non-gaming Loews Lake Las Vegas has provided guests with an elegant experience half an hour from the Strip. The resort, which looks like it came right out of a Bogart movie, hunkers down on the northern shoreline of man-made Lake Las Vegas between Henderson and Lake Mead. It’s part of a top-end residential, golf, and getaway development that stresses, well, stress relief. The look is soothingly Moroccan without veering into tacky, and rooms feature 37-inch flat-screen TVs, Bloom toiletries, and high-speed Internet access. For guests who want to get the most out of the lake itself, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available for rent on property.
