The Ritz hotel opened in the 1950s and more recently became a luxurious Four Seasons property. The public spaces are stately and elegant, decorated with tapestries, antiques, and marble as far as the eye can see. The 282 rooms have similarly elegant furnishings, from canopied beds to dressing tables,… more and the modern amenities a visitor would expect from the Four Seasons. Many have balconies; those overlooking the park are preferable. The stunning and serenely exotic spa offers innovative treatments and has a Zen-like indoor pool flanked by ergonomically designed beds. The Varanda Restaurant overlooks Eduardo V11 Park and attracts a smart business crowd.

We stayed at the Ritz for four nights over Easter. We had a deluxe room on the tenth floor with a view of the park. The room was pleasant, if a bit gold and baroque, and while it was fully flat-screened and DVD'd, I suspect it is due a refurb... more
