Peak Season: June to October Summer is peak season and you’ll pay top dollar for access to beaches and boats. Fall brings great color and slightly fewer crowds than Vermont or New Hampshire.
Off Season: March to May Nicknamed “mud season” – the snow is gone, the roads are muddy, and the temperatures remain frigid – early spring is the quietest time in Maine. Curl up by the fire and enjoy the silence and low seasonal rates.
Sweet Spot: November to February Holiday time is bustling in harbor villages, but not bursting at the seams with tourists. Winter snows bring calm to the coast, but droves of skiers shush down the slopes in Kennebec and Moose River Valleys and huff along the Nordic trails in the Highlands.
