
Unless you own a private yacht, there aren’t many opportunities for day trips off of Martha’s Vineyard (it’s an island, after all). The nearby isle of Chappaquiddick, with its serenely empty beach and Japanese-inspired garden, is the one exception.

As a quiet escape, however, it remains blissfully under the radar.
