Sherman's Expert Review

Commanding a sweeping view of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami, the newest (and ritziest) Mondrian is the creation of Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, who described it as “the castle of the Sleeping Beauty.” Indeed, the hotel is wonderfully fanciful, from the crystal chandeliers that doublemore as showerheads to the Dutch Delft tiles bedecked with Miami Beach motifs that adorn the kitchens. Like its brethren in West Hollywood and Arizona, the hotel fosters a white-hot nightlife, baiting scenesters with a hip Asia de Cuba restaurant and the Sunset Lounge, where revelers can sip Caipirinhas from the vantage of an adult-sized sandbox. At the same time, an air of tranquility pervades the Mondrian, perhaps most pronouncedly around the pool and its gardens, where comfy cabanas and hammocks abound.

I've been here several times for parties at night. I agree with the previous poster asking if we needed another all-white venue. I'm so over the white decor. The parties are ok. Just a lot of eye candy. I prefer to hang out outside by the pool under... more

"Party hotel, be prepared!"

My husband and I reserved a room at the Mondrian to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had heard great things about the Mondrian through my sister and was anxious to stay there. I have to say that the decor of the hotel is cutting edge. It is... more

I lost count of how many 'all white' venues there are in Miami? Did we need another one? The Mondrian is, shall I say, overdone and overpriced. Asia de Cuba, one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, gives the hotel a brownie point or two, but come on!... more

"Best Hotel I've Ever Stayed At...No Exaggeration"

The Mondrian Miami is the best hotel I've ever stayed in, and I'm a seasoned traveler. The hotel had kindly upgraded us to a one bedroom suite and when my friend and I walked in to the room we looked at each other in disbelief. We literally thought... more

"Not a bad choice - Rooms are stunning and huge but service could do with improving"

I stayed at the Mondrian Miami for 3 nights in June 2009. The Mondrian is a stunning looking property by anyone’s standards. The entrance is all white and very visually impressive as is the hotel pool which looks out to Biscayne Bay. The pool area... more

I can't count how many Saturday nights I've spent here, but every time I go it's a great time.  My boyfriend and I stayed there for his birthday, just to live it up for a weekend, and we were not dissappointed.  We had an amazing time.  The pool... more

"Fun and Relaxing Stay at the Mondrian Miami"

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at the Mondrian in early June and we both agree that it is a fantastic hotel! The location was better than I expected; it is clean and quiet, unlike some parts of Collins or Ocean Drive. An added bonus was that... more

"A fun, fantasy adventure"

This hotel, its decor and desire to attract a certain crowd, is not for everyone. However, if you're tired of what's become the standard in boutique hotels, the Mondrian will make your head spin in a good way. I appreciate all the attention to... more
