Summer months are considered high season for Israel, Lebanon, and Syria (the Levant). For the Gulf countries, months between November and May are considered the high season. Yemen, Jordan, and Egypt are best visited in the spring or fall.
Off Season
Avoid the Gulf during the summer as temperatures climb as high as 110 degrees. Although less scorching, Egyptian, Jordanian and Yemenite summer temperatures make sightseeing exhausting. Winter months in the Levant, though often quite cold and rainy, may suit skiers.
Sweet Spot
Early June and early October can be moderately tolerable in the Gulf, but it comes down to luck. Ideally, spring makes for a lovely time to visit the Levant, yet recently it’s been rather unpredictable with occasional storms and cold patches. Hotel and air rates are generally lower at this time, particularly if you book in advance.
