Morocco Itineraries

Long Weekend
Arrive on the ferry from Spain and spend 2 nights in Tangier, taking in the white washed medina, beach, and kasbah before bussing it to the beautiful village of Chefchaouen for a few nights in the cool respite of the Rif mountains. Plan an overnight hike from Chefchaouen with a local tour guide to experience the region’s Berber culture.
One Week
Arrive in Fez, spend 2 nights exploring the ancient medina by foot, then take the train roughly 7 hours south to Marrakesh to further delve into the Moroccan souk scene and experience the legendary Djemma el-Fna. After 2 or 3 nights soaking up Marrakesh’s colorful scene, bus it 3 hours to Essaouira on the Atlantic coast for cooler temperatures, a laid-back beach vibe, and Morocco’s best seafood.
Two Weeks
Start with several nights in Fez and Marrakesh before dashing east of Marrakesh to the desert (rent a car or hire a personal driver to make the most of your time). On the way to the Sahara outpost of Merzouga, stop for a night at Ait Benhaddou, an immaculately preserved kasbah. Then spend 1 or 2 nights amid the beautiful natural surrounds of the Todra Gorge. In Merzouga, hire a guide to take you into the desert for a night or more by camel and sleep under the stars at an oasis. Make a stop at the small village of Al-Khamlia, near Merzouga, to hear live music by local residents. Then return to Marrakesh via the stunning route that bypasses the Valley of Roses and the Dades Valley.
