Munich: When To Go

Peak Season: June to October; December to January Munich summers are truly gorgeous. The beer gardens are alive and temperatures average in the 70s. Festivals keep the spirit alive through October. Although winter is chilly (average temperature is 28 degrees), the holidays bring many visitors as well.

Off Season: November; February The onset of wintry, 35-degree weather chases many visitors out of the city, but life goes on amongst the natives. The post-Mardi Gras Lenten season is hardly as austere as one might think in this bastion of Catholicism.

Sweet Spot: March to May Take advantage of Bavaria’s early spring to see Munich without the crowds. No sooner have the sun’s rays developed strength, that the cafés put out their chairs and the beer gardens open for business. Temperatures hover in the 60s.
