Naples Nightlife

Overview

Although the city's demographic has shown signs of creeping down from AARP heights, this is not the spot for all-night clubbing. Peruse the Fifth Avenue South restaurants; many have bars that turn festive on weekends. The eclectic cocktail spots in East Naples attract younger crowds.

Smart Splurge    Great Value
Sway Lounge
With all the money in Naples, it was only a matter of time before the local Paris Hiltons had their own trendy playground. Think martinis, Manolos, and VIP bottle service in a contemporary tropical lounge. Holidays mean major bashes, like the Fetish and Fantasy Halloween Ball. Expect a $10 cover most nights; ladies get in for $5 some nights.

Snappers Night Club
A recent upgrade brought Snappers from the '80s into, well, the '90s. Still, it's a little surprising that conservative-leaning Naples even has a gay club, and a decent-sized one at that. Given the shortage of area dance floors, the crowd is often mixed. Open daily until 2am; happy hour specials until 8pm. Cover charge on Friday and Saturday only.

The English Pub
The name pretty much sums it up. There are downtown alehouses that strike a pretty faithful UK pose, but The English Pub – which claims it's the oldest authentic British pub in the state – walks the walk. The warm, convivial bar serves lunch, dinner, late-night snacks, and of course, beer: Stella Artois, Guinness, Tetley's, Old Speckled Hen, and more.

Absinthe Restaurant & Lounge
Another Naples chameleon, Absinthe is a sleek, airy Mediterranean restaurant that transforms into a hip hangout with a DJ spinning house and/or chill-out lounge mixes after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect a gamut of ages, from mid-20s to 50s, and a cool bar that will ease homesickness in hardcore city slickers. And yes, absinthe is available (French and Swiss varieties).

Bayshore Coffee Company great value
Coffee shop by day, entertainment venue by night. This casual family-run eatery and wine bar hosts open mic nights, art shows, and live bands with styles ranging from bluegrass to jazz, Irish blues to Latin. Wine tastings are also in the repertoire; Bayshore's wine list focuses on smaller-producing boutique vineyards, so selections change from month to month. Cover is $4 on live music nights (all proceeds go to the bands).
