New Orleans When To Go

Peak Season: February to May
Spring is New Orleans’ busiest time thanks to mild weather and Jazz Fest, which takes place during the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. Mardi Gras and Carnival take over the entire city in February, causing many traditional attractions to close and prices to rise dramatically.
Off Season: June to October
The summer in New Orleans is often sweltering because of heat and humidity, but low hotel rates welcome those who are ready to experience the true Bayou. Hurricane season runs from July to October, so keep abreast of the weather if you choose to travel during these months.
Sweet Spot: November to January
Daytime temperatures in the mid-70s and fewer crowds make fall a comfortable time of year to visit New Orleans. Winter is also quiet and less crowded, though New Year’s Eve draws crowds who come for the fireworks and the ball drop.
