North America’s most spectacular waterfall straddles the U.S.-Canadian border. Technically a single cataract, Niagara Falls appears to be two separate falls, with Ontario claiming the more impressive 2,200-foot “Horseshoe Falls,” and the U.S. encompassing the smaller 1,060-foot “American Falls” at the tip of New York state. A crop of casinos, hotels, and chain restaurants create an unabashedly touristy atmosphere around the Falls, but no amount of background noise can distract from the phenomenon of the water itself (600,000 gallons gush per second over the crest of Horseshoe Falls). Each year, 12 million+ visitors come to admire to this natural wonder.
Because no photo can equal the experience of feeling the spray of the Falls on your face.
