Peak Season: mid-May to mid-September If swimming is high on your agenda, plan your trip between June and September, when temps average in the mid-70s. Warning: the summer high season is hot, humid, and marked by overpowering crowds, bumper-to-bumper traffic, and sky-high air-and-hotel costs.
Off Season: November to mid-March While low-season winters are mild (averaging about 50°F), you’ll still need a light jacket swimming isn’t an option – on rare instances, Nice has even seen sprinklings of snow. Nice’s famous Carnival celebration draws crowds in February.
Sweet Spot: mid-March to mid-May; mid-September to October Spring or early fall trips provide the best bang for your buck. Temperatures in the low 60s are perhaps too cold for a dip, but are just right for sunbathing and sightseeing. Hotel rates are also comfortably lower.
