North Africa: When To Go

Peak Season In general, fall (September-November) and spring (February-April) are dry and warm, making them popular times for desert safaris and for tours in Egypt. The summer (June-August) is high season in Tunisia and coastal Morocco, when tourists take over the beaches.

Off-Season In the desert regions, summer (June-August) is unbearably hot. Many tour companies don’t operate at this time. Winter (December-January) is low season in North Africa’s coastal resorts, when the weather is rainy and chilly.

Sweet Spot Spring (March-May) is the best time to visit Morocco and Tunisia, with cheaper rates, lower temps, and fewer crowds. Spring and fall (March-May; September-October) are good times to visit Egypt, with cooler temps in Cairo yet warm enough weather on the Red Sea coast.
