Nova Scotia Itineraries

For a quick getaway to Nova Scotia, fly into Halifax and use the capital port city as your weekend home base. After your flight and check-in, spend a day at the Citadel and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. On your second day, rent a car and get an early start on a drive down the coast to the picturesque fishing village of Peggy’s Cove; grab lunch further down the coast by the wharfs in Lunenburg before driving back to Halifax. Spend your last day aboard the Bluenose II, paying homage to the island’s seafaring tradition.

Start in Halifax and spend two days exploring the port city before heading down the coast to Peggy’s Cove. Spend the night in Lunenburg and wake up early the next day to go deep-sea fishing or sailing aboard the Bluenose II. From there, drive across Nova Scotia’s interior to Digby for the night. The next day, head north to see the amazing fluctuations of tides along the Bay of Fundy and to swim in the Northumberland Strait. Spend your next 3 days looping around Cape Breton Island via The Cabot Trail before heading back to Halifax.

A two week trip through Nova Scotia will give you plenty of time to enjoy a wide spectrum of activities and sightseeing excursions. Follow the One Week itinerary, but extend your trip by visiting Brier Island off the coast of Digby Neck for whale watching, and then the spending 2 extra days on Noel Shore near the Bay of Fundy. Spend the rest of your extra time on Cape Breton Island, dedicating a day apiece on the following activities: hiking in the highlands, going on a puffin cruise, and shopping and dining in authentic Gaelic stores and pubs.
