Sherman's Expert Review

Overlooking the famed Rue de Rivoli, the Seine, the Eiffel Tower, the Tuileries Gardens, and the Louvre, this palace-style hotel just down the street from the Meurice may not have the ultra-luxe interiors or superb service of its famous neighbor, but the views are nearly identical…at a fractionmore of the price. Built in the 19th century during the fleeting moment of mutual admiration between the French and the British, the faux marble- and mosaic-filled Brighton has recently undergone a renovation and moved up from a three- to a four-star property. The nicely sized rooms now have newer furnishings, far better linens, and upgraded bathrooms with large tubs. The one thing they didn’t need to improve on, the views, are still breathtaking.
