When you’re paying hostel prices for a big-city hotel, there’s probably a catch, and the charismatic Eldorado, located in the Batignolles section of the 17th Arrondissement, is no exception. First the positive: the rooms are clean and pleasingly decorated in thrift store-chic fashion; there’s… more a lovely bamboo-encircled garden café downstairs; and two metro lines (the 2 and the 13) are just five minutes away. Some rooms share bathrooms, but most have en-suite facilities. Now for the not so great: in place of an elevator there’s a narrow, five-story staircase; there’s no Internet access; and summer can be almost unbearable because there’s no air conditioning. But if you’re looking for a good base from which to explore the city, this deal is hard to beat.

We booked a cheap simple room at El Dorado, with no ensuite, for €50 a night. The location wasn't bad, much more real Paris than other central areas. The bed though was not comfortable and the room was small and lacked air. But hey, we were... more
I stayed at Eldorado for two nights and enjoyed the value for money. My bed was comfy and the service was friendly. However my room was very noisy and smokey. It seems like people smoke all over the hotel. Next time I would definately get a... more
