Portugal When To Go

Peak Season: June to September
June and September are perfect months to visit Portugal, with lovely weather and plenty of outdoor action. Summers are hot – temperatures hover between 60 and 82 degrees – and crowded with tourists, especially in Lisbon and the Algarve.
Off Season: November to March
Despite frequent rains and overcast skies, it never gets very cold in Portugal due to its mild Atlantic climate, with average temperatures ranging between 46 and 57 degrees. Prices are lower and crowds are thinner during this time.
Sweet Spot: April to May; October
The weather is pleasant in most of Portugal during spring and early fall, with some rain thrown in. Also, prices are lower and tourists fewer. In the spring, the streets come alive again in preparation for the summer season. September and October are the wine harvest season in the north, and a great time to visit.
