Positano Neighborhoods

Via Pasitea
It’s impossible to avoid Positano’s main street, which meanders down the cliff to the beach in a series of shop-, restaurant-, and café-filled curves.
Flavio Gioia Square
In this enchanting square, amongst pastel-coloured houses and lush gardens, stands the church of Santa Maria Assunta, with its attractive landmark dome.
Spiaggia Grande Beach
Though rocky, Positano’s main beach is great for relaxing and socializing in the many cafes and restaurants that front the water. Sailboats and motorboats can be hired at the Marina.
Fornillo Beach
Just five minutes from the center of town is the quiet bay of Fornillo, with its long stretch of soft sand, shops, and water sport activity vendors.
Chiesa Nuova
The area surrounding Chiesa Nuova is acknowledged as the upper town. Less glitzy (and pricey) than the main stretch, it nonetheless boasts great restaurants and superb views.
Nocelle
Carved into the side of the mountain, this little village offers amazing views that more than justify the trip up.
Thousand Stairs
Aptly named the “thousand stairs,” this winding stairway connects the town with the cliffs above and the beaches below. The picturesque walk includes views across Positano and out to sea.
