Puerto Plata When To Go

Peak Season: mid-December to mid-April
The strongest trade winds, driest conditions, coolest crowds, and exciting events (everything from whale-watching to major league winter baseball) make this Puerto Plata prime time. With the exception of the summer, temperatures average in the low 80s year-round.
Off Season: mid-June to mid-November
This is official hurricane season. Although it’s generally hotter and more humid, most properties remain open and offer significant discounts. July through September are the hottest months, with temperatures averaging 90 degrees. Prices are slahsed 20-50%.
Sweet Spot: mid-April to mid-June; mid-November to mid-December
Prices are still slashed 20-50%, resorts, restaurants, and attractions are still bustling, and, best of all, you’re comfortably outside the worst part of hurricane season.
