Peak Season: October to March Temperatures are mild, hovering around 65-70 degrees, and rain is rare. Room rates soar during the Holiday Season from December 15 through January 1. Mexicans flock to the beach over the Easter holiday, so traveling is difficult.
Off Season: July to August These hurricane-vulnerable, hot and humid summer months can bring brief showers or several days of intense rain. Most hotels run specials during these months, although there is no change in the rack rates. The heat, humidity and mosquitoes can become oppressive inland, but the coast is always pleasant.
Sweet Spot: September; April to May The resorts and ruins are relatively void of Americans at the tail end of hurricane season in September, although you’ll find vacationing Europeans. You may find some real deals during this period, so check with the hotels. With the exception of Easter week and the Spring Solstice, April through May are lightly traveled and deals can be had.
