Romania Getting There

Airport
Your best bet is to fly into the Henri Coanda Airport (OTP) in Bucharest. Alternatively, depending on your travel plans within Romania, catch a connecting flight in another European country and fly into Cluj (CLJ) in the northwest, Baia Mare (BAY) in the north near the Ukrainian and Hungarian border, Timisoara (TSR) in the west near the Serbian border, or Sibiu (SBZ) in central Romania.
Airlines
Getting to Romania is easier than you might think. Although Delta Airlines is the only carrier to offer nonstop service from New York (JFK) to Bucharest, the following airlines connect to Romania via their respective European hubs: Alitalia, British Airways, Lufthansa, Czech Airlines, and Austrian Airlines.
Flight Times
In-air flight times to Bucharest are approximately 10 hours from New York, 12 hours from Chicago, and 14 hours from LA. All flights also have a 1- to 6-hour layover in a Western European hub before the last stretch to Romania. Flying through London on British Airways, or through Munich on Lufthansa, are your best bets for short layovers.
