Romania When To Go

Peak Season: late-June to August
During the summer, tourists crowd the resorts along the Black Sea and many of the points of interest throughout the country, including monasteries and castles. The cooler temperatures of the mountainous Transilvania and Sinaia draw tourists and Romanians from Bucharest who come seeking relief from the heat.
Off Season: late-November to mid-April
With the exception of the adventurous skiers who head out to the resorts of the Carpathian Mountains, cold temperatures and snowfall can make it difficult and unpleasant to travel outside of Bucharest.
Sweet Spot: late-April to mid-June; September to mid-November
Reasonable temperatures, fewer crowds, and better hotel deals make spring and fall the best times to explore Romania’s major points of interest. The folklore of Count Dracula can make Transylvania a particularly appealing destination during Halloween, when special tours celebrate Bram Stoker's famous novel.
