Rome: When To Go

Peak Season: June to August The city is packed with tourists, hot, and miserable. Prices are higher, too. Some restaurants and shops close in August, when many Romans head for the beach.

Off Season: October to April Rome is at its quietest during its winter months, which can be surprisingly cold. April is one of the most beautiful and tranquil months to visit the Eternal City, but make sure you don’t come any time around Easter.

Sweet Spot: May; September The weather’s nice and the crowds are only just beginning to build up (May) or die down (September). Hotels will be much easier to get into as well.
