Tucked amid the Gaslamp Quarter’s clubs and restaurants, this allegedly haunted 132-room Victorian-era hideaway was taken down and reconstructed, brick by brick, in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Rooms are furnished with antiques and gas fireplaces, and the hotel offers… more high tea on Saturday afternoons in Ida Bailey’s Restaurant, named after an infamous madam who worked two blocks away, back when the area was known for its disreputable activity.
I liked the hotel overall - it's a cute little boutique hotel. Meaning, the rooms are tiny, the beds are only full size and the bathroom is noisy and the showerhead is too low. It's in a fantastic location. But, I could hear my neighbor clearly and... more
Except for the location, this place is a DUMP! It might be historic but so what! The last time they must have upgraded anything had to be 10 years ago! For the cost, I so would NOT recommend this place.
THis hotel was a mistake. From the highly unaccomodating staff to the musty, dirty rooms I was mortified. They could not have done less for the large party I was there with. Stay somewhere, ANYWHERE, else.
Very nice old rebuilt hotel in the downtown San Diego Gaslamp area. Close to everything and easy to get to and from the freeways
