Santorini When To Go

Peak Season: July and August
Foreigners and Greeks invade Santorini in droves, attracted by its glamorous reputation, the stunning scenery, the boutique hotels, and the glamorous nightlife. Hotel prices rise accordingly and reservations are essential. Keep in mind that the island can be overcrowded, hospitality employees overworked, and temperatures overwhelming (often exceeding 100 degrees).
Low Season: November to April
Most hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops shut down completely, so plan your journey in advance. Winter winds can be harsh and boat travel may be disrupted. On the plus side, the locals are especially welcoming during the low season.
Sweet Spot: May and June; September and October
For many, this is the best time to visit. The weather is neither to hot nor too cold (temperatures average 77 degrees), and the sea is warm enough to swim in but the beaches aren’t overcrowded. Hotels, restaurants, and cultural attractions are open but peaceful, offering much better prices than during high season.
