Neighborhoods and Landmarks

Sedona is situated in Arizona's high desert, 120 miles north of Phoenix and 30 miles south of Flagstaff. The city is centered around a main, Y-shaped intersection known simply as the "Y" – all you need to grasp the city’s layout is a quick familiarization with this junction and a car.

Uptown Sedona
Compact and walkable, this busy neighborhood northeast of the “Y” is marked by shops selling Native American- and Western-themed souvenirs, eateries, and sculpture installations.
West Sedona
Locals call this residential area west of the “Y” along Highway 89A “real town.” Find everyday services interspersed with B&Bs and shops. Percolator-shaped Coffee Rock is also here.
Schnebly Hill Road
A 13-mile, dirt road off Highway 179 (4-wheel drive recommended) meanders through eastern Sedona’s hills for 2,000+ feet, traversing cacti-filled landscapes and offering fantastic town and countryside views.
Boynton Canyon
North of West Sedona, Dry Creek Road leads into beautiful Boynton Canyon, a narrow red-rock gorge said to be an energy “vortex”, and the site of well-known Enchantment Resort.
Oak Creek Canyon
A 14.5-mile section of Highway 89A connects Sedona to Flagstaff through Oak Creek Canyon, with its crimson cliffs, cottonwood, ponderosa pine, and sycamore trees, parks, and overlooks.
Village of Oak Creek
South of the “Y,” Highway 179 winds past striking red rocks like Bell, Courthouse, and Castle, to the Village of Oak Creek – a bedroom community for Sedona.
