A long high season with more outdoor events means packed roads and soaring hotel rates. The further north you go, the fewer crowds you’ll find. Wineries are in full production during harvest season (September and October).
Off Season: December to March
Bad storms can close the roads, which also means fewer crowds and discounted hotel rates. Some winery visiting rooms are closed or have limited hours, but the attention you’ll receive is phenomenal.
Sweet Spot: April; November
Fewer tourists but occasional warm weather make this an ideal time for visiting. Hotel rates begin rising but deals can be found. Check destinations prior to arrival as some businesses have shorter hours.
