South Australian Wine Country: When To Go

Peak Season: December to January Along with ample sunshine and warm days, the summer months also attract hordes of local holidaymakers on annual leave (with hefty accommodation prices to match). Book ahead. While average temperatures usually hover in the mid-80s, the mercury can rise to the mid-90s on rare days.

Off Season: June to August Winter in wine country brings chilly days (average temperatures in the mid 50s) and cold nights (average temperatures in the mid 40s), but there’s also plenty of warm hospitality and well-priced accommodations.

Sweet Spot: September to November & February to May (except Easter) You’ll find great hotel deals, sunny and bright days (with average temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s) and crisp and clear nights (with average temperatures in the low 50s). Spring brings an abundance of wildflowers, and fall signals harvest time (late February to late April).
