St. Barts: When To Go

Peak Season: late-December to April You pay for privilege staying on the island, especially during la plus haute saison (roughly December 22-January 3). Hotels are booked far in advance and usually require a 10-14-day stay, while villa guests comprise a virtual Who’s Who of celebs and CEOs. Figure on nearly double the regular “high season” rates. Temperatures average around 80 degrees.

Off Season: June to November Hurricane season brings wind, rain, and the potential for dangerous storms. The island starts winding down in June and slowly reopening in early November – the tail ends of the rainy season. Although rates plummet during this period, the island often feels deserted and many establishments close for 2-3 months from August on.

Sweet Spot: May; early December Before the masses descend in December, and right after they leave in May are the best times to stretch your dollars on St. Barts. Expect temperatures in the high 70s.
