Tourists flock to Stockholm during its gorgeous summers when 70-degree weather is common and sunlight lasts nearly 24 hours. Popular attractions extend their opening hours and hotels raise their rates. Word to the wise: many establishments close in July, a popular holiday month for Swedes.
There’s no way around it: winters in Stockholm are cold and dark, temperatures rarely budge above freezing, and sunlight lasts for as little as six hours a day. Nonetheless, hotels are cheaper, most attractions are open, and, except around the holidays, airfares are lower.
While fairly brief affairs, spring and fall are excellent times to visit Stockholm, with crisp, but bearable, highs in the 50s. While not quite as cheap as in winter, airfares and accommodations are substantially lower than during summer months.
