The Big Island Getting There

Airports
The main airports on island are the Kona International Airport (KOA) and Hilo International Airport (ITO). Small Waimea Airport is used for private charters.
Airlines
Most people get a cheap flight to Honolulu, then fly Hawaiian, Aloha or Go! Airlines to Kona or Hilo. American, United and ATA Airlines offer limited direct flights to Big Island from the west coast; Continental flies direct from Newark.
Flight Times
Paradise is remote: about 5.5 hours non-stop from the West Coast, 7.5 hours non-stop from Dallas, 9.5 non-stop from Chicago, and 11 hours non-stop from the East Coast, plus 40 additional minutes to Hilo.
