Peak Season: May to September The warmer months see the most travelers passing through Tibet. Religious holidays throughout May and June draw in heavy crowds and tighter security; July and August are warm, but sometimes rainy. July is the optimum hiking and rafting period.
Off Season: November to March Heavy snow blocks many roads and mountain passes, making travel during this period tricky. Many facilities and hotels close down for the season.
Sweet Spot: October; April The weather is unpredictable during these months as it frequently alternates between hot and cold. The upside is that you’ll experience fewer crowds and, if you’re lucky, cooler temperatures.
