Forget renting a car unless you plan on leaving the city – four wheels are more hassle than they’re worth in Toronto, where the efficient subway and bus system can get you everywhere you need to go.
Not so French
Don’t come to Toronto expecting to practice your French. Unlike Montreal, all business is conducted in English.
Book in advance
Hotels fill up fast during the wildly popular Toronto Film Festival in September. The only way to guarantee a room during this time is to book at least six months in advance.
Theater wise
Before you go, find out what’s on city stages at www.torontotourism.com. Day-of show tickets can often be acquired for a heavy discount at the T.O. TIX booth in Yonge-Dundas Square.
Airport transit
The most affordable way to make the trip from the airport to downtown Toronto is to take the Toronto Airport Express shuttle (www.torontoairportexpress.com). Taxis will cost about $40 each way.
