U.S. Virgin Islands: Itineraries

With non-stop flights from the New York and Washington, D.C. areas as well as south Florida, the Virgin Islands makes a perfect weekend getaway. Folks flying in from farther afield usually opt for longer stays. If you're headed to St. John, you'll have to hop the ferry from St. Thomas.

Long Weekend Settle in to St. Thomas for a long weekend. Opt for a beachfront hotel to maximize your beach time, but save three hours for a round-the-island tour of the sights.

One Week Stay on St. Thomas for a week. Seven days provides plenty of time to relax at the beach, take a day sail, do a little shopping, and to hop the ferry for a day trip to St. John.

Two Weeks While most visitors spend their time on one island, 14 days is enough time to go island-hopping. Spend four days on St. John, five apiece on St. Thomas and St. Croix.
