United Arab Emirates Cities and Regions

Cities and Regions

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are certainly the most well-known, but the other five Emirates are just as exciting. In spite of the ubiquitous flurry of construction as the nation grows its various enterprises, the UAE continues to be a top-notch destination for spa-enthusiasts, shoppers, scuba divers, and hikers.

Abu Dhabi
After spending a billion dollars for the right to build a branch of the Louvre, this largest, wealthiest emirate is poised to become the region’s cultural capital. See our Abu Dhabi Travel Guide
Dubai
For Sheikh Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, no dream is impractical. From the world’s tallest building, seven-star hotels, and ersatz archipelagos in the shape of the world, visitors should expect the unexpected. See our Dubai Travel Guide
Sharjah
Muslim rules are upheld here – everyone must dress conservatively, alcohol is banned, and socializing between single men and women is illegal. Still, the emirate hosts several esteemed cultural events yearly.
Ras al-Khaimah
This lush, northernmost emirate, wealthiest by far in terms of natural treasures with its lush greenery and stunning beaches, remains surprisingly out of the limelight and under the radar.
Fujairah
This Emirate's terrain is almost entirely mountainous. Visitors looking to spend more time outdoors then in malls will love Fujairah’s sprawling beaches and endless trails.
Umm al-Quwain
Located on the Arabian Gulf, this emirate is best known for its beaches, lagoons, and islands that shelter various animals, birds, and turtles.
Ajman
Only 20 minutes from Dubai, Ajman has long been a getaway for locals escaping the city. At 161 square miles, it may be the smallest emirate, but it has an impressive tourism infrastructure.
