If you only have a long weekend, spend it exploring the capital of Montevideo, which offers the perfect combination of culture, nightlife, and beach access.

Fly into Montevideo and immediately head east toward Punta del Este for 3 days of sun, surf, and fun. When you’re ready to escape the party atmosphere, head to the sleepy village of José Ignacio to spend a day relaxing in the town and on its quiet, sandy beaches. Wake up the next day and head to Colonia to spend a day exploring the quaint historic streets along Rio de Plata. From there, return to Montevideo for your last two days.

Start your two week trip to Uruguay with 4 days in Montevideo, experiencing the capital’s culture and history. Head west from there for 2 days of old-world charm in Colonia. Dedicating the next 5 days to exploring the seaside towns of Jose Ingacio, La Barra de Maldonado, and Piriápolis. From Pirápolis continue on to Punta del Este for 3 days before heading back to end your trip in Montevideo.
