West Africa When To Go

Peak Season: December to March
This is the most crowded and most expensive time to visit. The coastal resorts in Senegal and The Gambia are bursting with tourists. Keep in mind that it’s drier and cooler from December through February, making this a more comfortable time for traveling.
Off Season: May to October
The rainy season falls between May and October in most West African countries; roads can be impassable and many wildlife reserves are closed.
Sweet Spot: November; April
In November and April the weather is still dry, but there are fewer tourists so prices in the major resorts and parks can be cheaper.
