Zurich: When To Go

Peak Season: June to August The summer weather is warm, although nowhere near as hot as the Mediterranean (temperatures average is 72°F). The lake is warm enough for swimming and locals are out walking, cycling, and sailing. The downside? High hotel rates.

Off Season: December to February Winter can be freezing with the average temperature in January being 30°F. There can be few more beautiful snow-covered cities in the world and the Christmas outdoor markets are fun. Discounts aren’t as prominent here as they are elsewhere due to the lure of Switzerland’s ski slopes.

Sweet Spot: March to May; September to November Although the weather can be cool, and sometimes downright chilly, spring and fall bring beautiful, clear blue skies and reasonable hotel rates.
