An intimate, luxury inn known for its superb personal service and beautiful Arts and Crafts design, El Portal has 12 huge rooms furnished with both original and reproduction furniture and decorative pieces designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Gustav Stickley, and other luminaries from the early 20th century. It's next to Tlaquepaque, a replica of a Mexican village built in the Spanish Colonial style and filled with galleries, boutiques, and restaurants. This pet-friendly hotel has rooms on two floors, most of them opening to a grassy garden courtyard anchored by a gurgling fountain. A refined but casual restaurant serves delicious breakfasts with an emphasis on organic ingredients; dinner available on Friday and Saturday nights.
