Lake Tahoe Neighborhoods

North Shore

Quieter and less developed than the south, the north is known for skiing and snowboarding. It encompasses Tahoe City, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, the town of Truckee, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows.

South Shore

Tahoe’s south side has some ski options, but is best known for gaming – most of the infamous casinos are located just east of California on Highway 50.
