A stay at the Elk Mountain Lodge transports you back to Colorado’s late Victorian era. Constructed in 1919, this three-story lodge served as a miners’ boardinghouse. Victorian-style bedding and antiques (in some rooms) embellish its 19 light-filled rooms, while some of the third-floor units have balconies and views of the surrounding mountains. There’s a baby grand piano in the lobby, which is often the source of impromptu evening concerts. In addition to the full breakfast, included in the rate, the lodge’s personal chef will prepare a home-cooked gourmet meal for an extra fee. Elk Mountain Lodge offers various specials throughout the year, including discounted lift tickets and special pricing for teachers.
