It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Savannah

Peak Season: March to July

The peak tourist season starts with a bang with the city’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities and continues through the middle of summer. Springtime brings blooming azaleas citywide, setting a picturesque backdrop for photo ops.

Off Season: January; February

With moderate South Georgia winters, this is a great time for a visit to a slowed, vacated city. The low season means reduced room rates, shorter lines, and ample parking.

Sweet Spot: August to December

The trolleys begin to slow as the summer heat and humidity tame the travelers. The holidays, however, are a nice time to leave your snow boots and home and see the city lights of historic Savannah.
