Finger Lakes

It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Finger Lakes

Peak Season: May to October

The warm summer months are conducive to outdoor activities, and the region is famous for its brilliant fall foliage. Book lodging in advance, especially for weekend stays.

Off Season: December to March

The region gets quite cold in the winter months, but you can also enjoy year-round activities like hockey, ice-skating, and cross-country skiing. You’ll also find the best hotel deals during this time.

Sweet Spot: April; November

There is no true shoulder season, but early spring (before temperatures rise) and late autumn (after trees are denuded) see more availability for reservations.
