New York City
Address: 85 Smith St.
Neighborhood: Downtown Brooklyn
No longer is Manhattan the only place where movers and shakers bed down in New York. Haven't you heard? Brooklyn is the new cool. At NU Hotel in downtown Brooklyn, unveiled in July 2008, the 93 rooms are the ultimate in urban chic – understated, swank, and eco-friendly. Each unit has cork flooring, organic and 100-percent cotton linens, and recycled teak furnishings. Bathrooms are equipped with a chalkboard wall where guests can jot down their creative ideas in a fit of inspiration. There's even a suite with a designer hammock for those lazy Brooklyn afternoons.
