Austin hosts two celebrated annual music festivals: South by Southwest in March and Austin City Limits in September. But you don’t have to attend one of these famous festivals to get your fill of live music. With performances taking place everywhere from the Austin-Bergstrom Airport to the Central Market grocery store – and every night among nearly 200 live music venues – Austin certainly lives up to its moniker as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Sixth Street is an ideal starting point to explore Austin’s live music scene, so pick up a copy of The Austin Chronicle and keep your eyes and ears open. Though some shows are free, keep in mind that most require a cover charge of around $10.
